Michelin Training Update December Review of 2011. Below are pictures of the current intake of apprentices that are working in the training centre at the moment. The first picture shows the current first year intake who were taken on in August of 2011. They are coming to the end of their basic training where they have visited every skills area of the workshop which has given them the basis to becoming a good engineer. The second picture shows the current second year intake who will be progressing on to the their factory stage after the summer of 2012. Before being allowed on to the factory they will have carry out end tests to show competance of skills before entry to work on the factory is granted. First Years from back left - Dean Clark, Emmagrace Evans, Ryan McQueen, Kyle Twell, Rhys Brown, Steven Tasker, Callum Stewart. Also shown are a couple of pictures from a recent 5 a-side footbal game that took place between apprentices and sale team members from Michelin. It was a hard fought game but youth prevailed in the end. The apprentices won the game 11-9 and there has been a rematch scheduled the next time the sales team are in dundee for one of their meetings. During the first two years of the Michelin apprenticeship the apprentices are expected to keep their fitness up by going on runs every Thursday morning and then playing a sport on the Friday afternoon. Because of the weather that we encountered last year in December it was decided that we would book a Gym for the apprentices to keep fit and keep them off the road in the wintery conditions. This is the first time we have carried this out and it seems to be working quite well and giving the apprentices exposure to another aspect of keeping fit. The Gym sessions will last for 10 weeks then we are progressing on to allow the apprentices to work towards achieving their Bronze medalion. This life saving course will hopefully be carried out starting in January and again this will allow fitness levels to be kept up during the winter months. |
