New Machines in 2011

Boost for Training and Development

Michelin Training has been given a boost by the recent requirement of new lathes for their machine shop. These new machines will add great value to the training that can be given and will enhance any companies need to have any of their workforce trained up with machining skills.

Please contact Training for any machining courses that you or your company are interested in.

The Training Centre was equiped with 5 lathes which have now been stripped out by the apprentices.

They spent a bit of time planning the removal of the machines as they had to make safe the integrated emergency stop system to allow it to still be in safe working order for the Milling section of the machine shop and they also had to strip back the 400v supplies from the redundant lathes to the distribution board ready for the new installations. All work carried out under supervision allows these apprentices to gain good experience working within electrical and mechanical jobs to improve their skills base.

Above shows pictures of one of the apprentices with one of the old lathes before they were stripped out and also various pictures of the new lathes and new Miller which were purchased.

The new lathes were installed in around March and the Bib standardisation has been carried out on the equipment and they are now fully functional which is adding great value to the training courses given.
